70s Disco Aesthetic - Styled shoot with some FAB brisbane wedding vendors

So you're searching for the perfect wedding theme... You're over the rustic, minimalist and beige tones and you're wanting something fun, upbeat, vibrant and a little bit funky. Well look no more - we've got you covered babe!

I shot videos for a 70s disco inspired styled shoot and well, the pics and vids are PROOF that this is the ultimate fun wedding vibe. Check out what went down in this highlight video and read on to find out how it all came together with the help of some amazing wedding vendors from Brisbane and surrounds.

VENUE & Decor

Lightspace is a unique warehouse venue in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. It's a flexible, blank-canvas style venue so it was perfect for us to bedazzle in disco attire. Beautiful Weddings Australia really went to town with sparkle, glitz and glam to create a 70s boogie wonderland. Colourful florals, mood lighting and big, bold event letters really completed the party vibes. I really love the orange, pink, purple colour combos.

ICONIC LOOKS

Our lovely models were dolled up by the ladies at Bella Brides and were dressed in When Freddie Met Lilly gowns. We had unique looks for each bride which featured different 70s elements.

BOHO

Boho can be described as whimsical, effortless and a touch vintage so we chose a flowy gown with off-the-shoulder, bell sleeves (as a little 70s touch). Soft make up and a floral crown completed the look.

Glam

This sequin-covered dress was giving disco ball vibes in the best way possible, reflecting light and sparkling at just the right angles. This look was complemented by full glam make up, bold earrings and a colourful bouquet.

Hippie

Similar to the boho style, this gown was flowy and free-spirited. The floral details were a subtle nod to the flower-power movement and the muted orange tones of the bouquet are similar to the burnt orange and yellows associated with the 70s.

PHOTO OPS, activities & formalities

PHOTOBOOTH

Kandid Kombi definitely doesn't have a typical photo booth set up. They've revamped a 1973 VW kombi, affectionately known as Busta.

Busta loves to pose for a photo and can be used as either a backdrop with lots of props or as the photo booth itself. It also has a fun moving GIF option that guests can send directly to their phones. A super fun activity for any 70s, hipster weddings.

Campagne

Champagne Towers are a magical way to kick off your wedding and make for incredible photo opportunities! Allure Aisle's Champagne Tower feature opulent European champagne glassware, a champagne bucket and a transparent drip tray.

We also did a champagne toast with some spectacular cold sparklers from Roving Studios. Cold sparklers are safe for indoor use and are a great way to add excitement to any toast or dance at a reception.

AUDIO GUESTBOOK

Audio guest books are a trendy, modern alternative to the traditional guest book. Your guests record their heartfelt (or sometimes slightly drunk) messages after the beep and you get to keep the special memories for a lifetime! This one from Allure Aisle was super cute with it's vintage, rotary phone design.

cake cutting

Okay full disclosure, we did use a foam cake for our cake cut BUT it was beautifully decorated in fun and quirky patterns by Cake That!

Cake That! bake all their cakes from scratch and use high quality ingredients which means, when you do have a real cake to cut, it will not only look amazing but taste divine too.

DISCO DANCIN

Of course a 70s inspired wedding wouldn't be complete without a boogie on the dance floor. I love filming dancing and party shots so this was definitely my personal favourite part of the shoot. We had a "first dance" 70s mash up choreographed by Wedding Dance Diva and a group dance sesh, before sliding on the love-heart sunnies, chucking on some 70s tunes and had a big party.
